FAQs
Our program is designed for teenagers and young adults with social, developmental, intellectual challenges.
Our travelers have a wide-range of differences including but not limited to Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADD, learning disabilities, and social challenges.
Campers range in age from 14+ years old.
Yes! Our annual Winter Break trip to Florida resembles a mini tour. This is perfect for someone who wants to get a taster for what we are all about !
All trips have comprehensive pay. This means all necessary expenses are included in the trip tuition: Airfare to and from New York/ Newark, 3 meals daily, all activities, daily accommodations, all transportation during the trip are included.
We recommend sending your camper with extra spending money for souvenirs and ice cream. $100 weekly will be more than enough to cover any of these optional expenses.
All travel tours are based on current estimates of flight and accommodation rates and are subject to surcharge based on proximity of enrollment to the tour onset.
A deposit is required for all new applicants. This deposit covers a meeting with our clinician to discuss goodness of fit in our program.
5:1 Camper:Staff minimum. All trips have a nurse who travels with us, overseeing health, safety, and daily medication. All of our counselors have many years of experience working with individuals with special needs.
All trips have a licensed nurse that travels with us. Our nurse will hold all medication and distribute it to campers at their scheduled time.
Before departure for our trip, Thea will reach out with specific instructions regarding how to organize your child's medicine.
We will be in a hotel every night (no need to worry about sleeping on a bus). Campers will be roomed with campers of the same sex. Rooms will have 2-3 campers depending on the amount of beds in the room. Campers will always have their own bed. Roommates will typically alternate at each hotel to help increase socialization and make sure everyone makes more friends!
Although no counselors stay in rooms with campers, counselors have a key to all rooms and will facilitate camper safety and daily hygiene and are typically roomed next door/down the hall.
As a key goal on our program is to promote independence and socializing with peers, we ask parents not to reach out to their child. Campers will have "Parent Contact Day" every 3 days during travel. On these days, you can expect a phone call from your child to hear about all our amazing adventures!
You will have access to a photo portal where counselors will post daily pictures of all campers.
Please have your child assist with the packing process. We want to practice independence and life skills on travel, and packing is a great time to start!
Make sure to label EVERYTHING!
We will do laundry half way through each domestic trip (price included in tuition)
